ハワイヨロイダニグモ♀

沖縄島にて.

セントビンセント島産の標本に基づき記載されたヨロイダニグモ属の一種であり, 本属の模式種. 熱帯アジア原産とされ, 世界各地に分布域を広げている(World Spider Catalog 2023). 日本国内では南西諸島および小笠原諸島に分布(Ono 2011; Suzuki et al. 2023). 南西諸島では海岸林, 公園, 草地, 森林などあらゆる環境にみられ, しばしばリターの優占種となる. 宮古列島には本種によく似たアジアヨロイダニグモI. veloxが分布しているため, 同定には注意を要する(Suzuki et al. 2023).

アジアヨロイダニグモは生殖域の中央に三日月形の縁部を備える.

ハワイヨロイダニグモ(左)とアジアヨロイダニグモ(右)の♂触肢比較. ハワイヨロイダニグモの♂触肢の先端よりやや基部側には三角形のlobeが認められる. 一方, アジアヨロイダニグモの♂触肢の先端には細長い膜質の突起が伴う.
