【生態】主に山地に生息．渓流脇の岩の隙間や地表のくぼみにシート網を張る．

【分類】外雌器の形態には地理的変異がみられる．

【種名】種小名は，本種の外雌器がゾウの頭部を連想させることに由来．

【分布】四国．模式産地は徳島県名西郡神山町野間谷．
